Summary:
A Living Sacrifice
Gifts of Grace
Marks of the True Christian
The date is July 29 and we will now turn our attention to today’s reading from the New Testament, where we will read from the book of Romans, chapter 12, verse 1, and we will go through verse 21 of the chapter. This is because biblically, we see that the pattern of relaying doctrine and duty is to determine your actions according to what you believe. It is in these closing chapters that Paul discusses your relationship with God, yourself, the church, your enemies, the government, and believers who disagree with you. The subject of transformation will be discussed in the reading. By renewing your mind, God’s spirit transforms your life and allows you to live it as he intended. But he cannot do this unless you give him your body. It is when you give yourself over to God in spiritual worship, that you become a living sacrifice for the glory of God. The New Testament has a lot to say about it, so let’s read all about it there in Romans 12:1-21.

Getting There
By Oswald Chambers
Where our individual desire dies and sanctified surrender lives. One of the greatest hindrances in coming to Jesus is the excuse of our own individual temperament. We make our temperament and our natural desires barriers to coming to Jesus. Yet the first thing we realize when we do come to Jesus is that He pays no attention whatsoever to our natural desires. We have the idea that we can dedicate our gifts to God. However, you cannot dedicate what is not yours. There is actually only one thing you can dedicate to God, and that is your right to yourself (see Romans 12:1). If you will give God your right to yourself, He will make a holy experiment out of you— and His experiments always succeed. The one true mark of a saint of God is the inner creativity that flows from being totally surrendered to Jesus Christ. From: Getting There (3)
Are You a Thermometer or a Thermostat?
Don’t live down to the least common denominator of culture. Don’t let popular opinion determine how you think. Don’t let external circumstances dictate how you feel. That’s easier said than done, no doubt. But we take our cues from Jesus Christ, and he calls us to a higher standard.
