Deliberate sin is a serious thing, as we shall find out. As we read in this chapter. When you deliberately sin, you grieve the heart of the Father who loves you and has a wonderful future planned for you. You grieve the Savior who died for you and delivered you from the power of Satan. Deliberate sin grieves the Holy Spirit who lives in you and gave you a new birth.
You have a new nature and a new father. Therefore, you should live a new life. Well, to John, lack of love is the same as hatred, and hatred is the moral equivalent of murder, according to Matthew, chapter 5, deliberate Sin also grieves God’s people because we cannot minister to them as we should if we’re not walking in love and in the light. So strive to have a heart that’s right before God, and men ask God to use you to be an encouragement and help to others.
Love is more than a matter of words.

New Testament: 1 John 3:7-24
Summary: Love One Another
Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. No one who has been born of God practices sin, because His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin continually, because he has been born of God. By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother and sister. ~ 1 John 3:7-10
This summary verse is the key to verses 1 John 3:4-10. Only two kinds of children exist in the world: children of God and children of Satan. No one can belong to both families simultaneously. Either one belongs to God’s family and exhibits His righteous character or one belongs to Satan’s family and exhibits his sinful nature. ~ MacArthur Bible Commentary
