I Am the Bread of Life

Summary

Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. ~ John 6:26

It is Jesus’ point that the crowds that followed Him were motivated instead by apparent food desires knowing that food perishes, instead of knowing Jesus who gives eternal life.

Never again in the life of a true disciple is it about what you want. It’s always about – What? – He wants. So false disciples have a completely selfish personal preoccupation that causes them to view God as a dispenser of the things they want, and all they’re looking for is mechanisms to get those things. That’s why the name-it-and-claim-it prosperity gospel, positive confession faith movement, is so ludicrous. And it simply accumulates false disciples. ~ John MacArthur
