New Testament:
John 10:1-21

Summary: I Am the Good Shepherd

When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. ~ John 10:4

There are many false voices today, as there were back then. The only way to know God’s voice is to read His word the Bible and know it. That is the way we know Jesus’ true voice. The Pharisees and scribes robbed and stole God’s glory and profited by doing so. The same thing is done by many false preachers today. In this day and age, God has sent many true shepherds to us, and it is important that we listen to a true shepherd and not be deceived.

I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. ~ John 10:9-10

These two verses are a proverbial way of insisting that belief in Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God is the only way of being “saved” from sin and hell and receiving eternal life. Only Jesus Christ is the one true source for the knowledge of God and the one basis for spiritual security.  ~ John MacArthur

And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. ~ John 10:16

not of this fold – This refers to Gentiles who will respond to His voice and become a part of the church (Romans 1:16). Jesus’ death was not only for Jews (John 10:1, John 10:3), but also non-Jews whom He will make into one new body, the church
