One-Year Bible Notes and Daily Bible Reading

While the Word of God is comforting and nourishing to those who believe, it is a tool of judgment and execution for those who have not committed themselves to Jesus Christ. Some of the Hebrews were merely going through the motions of belonging to Christ. Intellectually, they were at least partly persuaded, but inside they were not committed to Him. God’s Word would expose their shallow beliefs and even their false intentions (1 Samuel 16:7; 1 Peter 4:5). ~ MacArthur Bible Commentary

New Testament: Hebrews 4:1-16
Summary: Jesus the Great High Priest
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
~ Hebrews 4:12-13
A human judge can only test the things that people can see. He cannot test the inner person: a person’s intentions, thoughts, attitudes and desires. But the word of God does test these things. It discovers even what is in a person’s spirit. It can reward even the smallest amount of faith (Matthew 17:20). God’s word is powerful: it always achieves its purpose (Isaiah 55:11).
But there is no reward for unbelief. The people whom Moses led failed their test. They had no faith; they showed complete unbelief. We must not imitate them.
The Bible gives us many examples of people like Joseph, who passed the test. These are the people who have faith (Hebrews chapter 11). We should have thoughts and attitudes that are like theirs.

You Need to Know the Bible for Yourself
Everybody needs to know what the Bible really says: what it says about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, salvation and eternity, etc. Don’t depend on what a church or some famous preacher tells you. If you depend on Hollywood, the History Channel, or a magazine for the most important information you will ever need to know. You may end up lost forever not knowing what God has written down for you. He wants you to spend eternity with Him.
You need to know Jesus before you can be saved. The bible is all about who Jesus is and what He has done for you. He has a gift for you and it is completely free. But if you don’t know Him, you will not be in the Kingdom of God with Jesus who gave His very life for you.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’ ~ Matthew 7:21-23
There is an absurd amount of very bad information out in the world today about the Bible. You will only know the truth if you study the bible for yourself. And if you study the bible and ask The Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the truth He will and it will change your life forever.
